I have a fairly open upstairs apartment. The living room and dining room are mostly the open part. The kitchen is down a sliiiight hall from the dining room, and then off that is another small hall with my 3 bedrooms and bathroom.

Should I buy one big air conditioner or a few small ones?

Has anyone purchased a new air conditioner and furnace at the same time? There won’t need to be any duct work, just installation. Also, are certain times of year better than others to do this? I have the feeling summer might be a high demand time and therefore more expensive.
BTW, we live in Lafayette, CO and have a 1,200 sq. foot townhouse.

My central air conditioner is a Trane XE1000. During these hot days the temps sometimes run mid 80′s to low 90′s outside. My unit is almost running constantly and I have it set at 72 degrees. What should the temperature be coming out of the ducts at the floor level. I took a laser temperature and it was running in the mid to high 50s but yet the unit is running like crazy and in my opinion not cooling the house like it should. Last week when it was in the low 90′s the house was a balmy 77 degrees inside only getting to the set 72 later that night. Is this normal or should I have it checked??

The model i just purchased is a Royal Sovereign 12,000 BTU air portable air conditioner. It comes with a water tank and instructions to fill the tank halfway. Once i attach the tank water immediately leaks out of the exhaust port. What gives?!!!!!

I have windows in my dining room that have bars on them. I didn’t put the bars there, this is a place that I’m renting. I would like to install an air conditioner but with the bars there, I don’t see how the air conditioner would fit. Other than removing the bars, which is not an option, is there any other way to install an AC? Do they make ACs that don’t have that large back?
